E-CATH II / E-CATH II +

Catheter sets for continuous peripheral nerve blocks using neurostimulation and/or ultrasound guidance.

The continuous peripheral nerve block is as simple as a single shot.

The E-Cath system was developed by Pajunk in collaboration with Dr Ban Tsui. It makes the “catheter-over-needle-system” as simple as a single-shot technique :

–> A cannula is first used with a SonoPlex needle for positioning on the target nerve, and then serves as a guide for insertion of the E-Cath catheter.

–> The SonoPlex needle is pre-mounted in the cannula and can be withdrawn in favor of the E-Cath catheter thanks to a locking system that ensures a secure connection.

The new E-Cath II and E-Cath II Plus devices combine the best of clinical experience with the latest technology.

  • E-Cath II :
    • The end is open and protrudes 2 mm from the external cannula.
    • The E-Cath II catheter set consists of a SonoPlex BNI* facet tip needle with Cornerstone reflectors (21G), an external cannula (18G) and an E-Cath II catheter (20G).
    • The E-Cath II catheter set is available in different lengths and in Luer and NRFit® connectors.

    • *BNI: Non-insulated bevel

  • E-Cath II Plus :
    • Closed end, three lateral orifices and protrudes 15 mm from the external cannula.
    • Strengthened by the integrated short metal stylet : designed to facilitate positioning of the E-Cath catheter.
    • The E-Cath II Plus catheter set consists of a SonoPlex facet tip needle with Cornerstone reflectors (21G), an external cannula (18G) and an E-Cath II catheter (20G).
    • The E-Cath II Plus catheter set is available in different lengths and in Luer and NRFit® connectors.
  • A secure connection:
    • The E-Cath catheter locking system ensures a secure connection between the external cannula and the SonoPlex needle and between the cannula and the catheter.
    • The overmoulded injection tube, connected directly to the needle hub and catheter, ensures a closed system with no leaks.
    • The neurostimulation cable is integrated.

  • Perfectly controlled catheter positioning:
    • The Auto-purge system improves the echogenic properties of the needle shaft. It allows the local anaesthetic to diffuse through the distal orifice (between the two reflector segments 1 cm from the tip) and forms a layer of liquid between the outer wall of the needle and the inner wall of the external cannula.

  • Reduced risk of leak and displacement:
    • The needle puncture site is sealed by the external cannula, which has a larger external diameter than the needle.
    • The double layer formed by the external cannula and the catheter reinforces the stability of the set and contributes to uniform diffusion of the local anaesthetic.
