Pain management and patient comfort

GAMIDA solutions for pain management

Combating pain, a public health issue

Acute or chronic pain?

The fight against pain is a real challenge and a priority for public health. There are two types of pain: acute pain and chronic pain. Acute pain is short-lived, reversible and due to a specific cause. This pain is found in certain post-operative situations, such as after surgery.

Chronic pain lasts at least 3 months, is difficult to interpret because the cause is not always known and can be morally and physically intrusive for the patient. These pains can be treated in specialist centres called Centre d’Evaluation et Traitement de la Douleur: CETD (Pain Assessment and Treatment Centre).

Today, with so many patients suffering from chronic pain, more and more pain centers are appearing in our healthcare establishments.

GAMIDA solutions for managing acute pain

Pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative

For acute pain, in addition to our loco-regional anaesthesia devices, GAMIDA also offers various solutions to improve patient comfort.

  • Pre-operative
  • Intra-operative
  • Post-operative

Pre-operative

In pre-operative care, HealthyMind, our therapeutic virtual reality solution creates a state of well-being in patients through hypnotic speeches, music therapy and heart coherence breathing exercises.

Intra-operative

In the intra-operative phase, patients awake under loco-regional anaesthesia can continue their therapeutic immersion and maintain a state of comfort.

For patients under general anaesthesia, our MDoloris ANI solution can monitor the level of analgesia / nociception from an ECG.

Did you know?

Enhanced Recovery After Surgery, known as ERAS, is a set of measures taken before, during and after surgery to ensure a faster and better quality recovery. It is indicated whenever a patient undergoes what is known as major surgery: digestive, orthopaedic, gynaecological, etc. The results of ERAS are an improvement in recovery and the quality of post-operative care, a reduction in overall morbidity and a reduction in the length of post-operative stay.

There are no contraindications to ERAS protocols, but it is necessary to adapt them when managing patients.
