Cryoanalgesia – in your healthcare establishments

Cryoanalgesia, an innovative solution for treating chronic pain in patients.

Since April 2024, Gamida has been a partner of Metrum Cryoflex and distributes the CRYO-S PAINLESS cryoanalgesia generator and its cryoprobes for the treatment of chronic pain.

Cryoanalgesia is a procedure that rests the nerve(s) responsible for the painful information by applying cold down to -50°C (Cryoneurolysis).

Cryoanalgésie réalisée par le Dr Julien MARC, anesthésiste réanimateur de la polyclinique d'Hénin Beaumont
Cryoanalgesia performed by Dr Julien Marc, intensive care anaesthetist at the Hénin Beaumont polyclinic.

The procedure is carried out on an outpatient basis , under local anaesthetic, with ultrasound or scopic guidance. The patient benefits are immediate: instant reduction in VAS, easier recovery and decreased opioid consumption, with pain relief assured over several months.

Today, this solution has been presented and used to treat chronic pain in around ten health establishments in France.

Patients at these centres were treated for pain in the lower and upper limbs (knee, hip and shoulder), whatever the origin of the pain. Other patients have received cryoanalgesia as a treatment for phantom pain (from endometriosis after a hysterectomy, for example) or for postherpetic neuralgia.

Practitioners were able to offer their patients an innovative solution to improve their quality of life by reducing both VAS and opioid consumption.

The results were considered very satisfactory by both the anaesthetists who used it and their patients. Aged between 16 and 86, no malfunctions, adverse events or complications were reported.

Thanks to space-saving equipment and support at every stage, healthcare institutions that have placed their trust in GAMIDA and the Metrum Cryolfex solution have added another weapon to their therapeutic arsenal for combating chronic pain.
